 Elizabeth Roberts Architects: Collected Stories

 —among them chic city townhouses and brownstones, upstate ground up builds, and historic restorations, as well as commercial and cultural commissions, and ERA’s designs for wallpaper and furniture—reflect Roberts’s dedication to reframing the distinctions between history and modernity.

Interspersed throughout the projects are hand-drawn sketches; historical ephemera, and short fictional vignettes written by Christine Coulson, which add dimension, context, and surprise.

 proudly present their first ever collaboration - The Noble - a dining chair designed with the intention to fill the gap between formality and casual comfort.

Crafted in Somerset, the chair features a robust solid steel rod frame with the strongest welded joints and hot-pressed feet, finished in a bespoke set of enamelled colorways. Both Bill Amberg Studio and Elizabeth Roberts Architects share a deep respect for craftsmanship and a drive to push design boundaries. Their forward-thinking approach values progression over nostalgia, seeking to refine and elevate materials and construction techniques for contemporary homes.

, Elizabeth Roberts’ inaugural furniture collection, includes a small writing desk, a bedside table, and an upholstered stool.

Created collaboratively with Radnor Made, and available exclusively as part of the company, the collection reflects the type of pieces that Roberts has always longed for but could never find: a writing desk that can double as a vanity, and a small round bedside table with a single drawer. Triad is available in several wood finishes and each piece is hand-made to order through Radnor.

Elizabeth Roberts for Radnor - Triad Collection 

 came from ERA’s many attempts to find the perfect rug for the formality of a townhouse parlor-level living room that felt modern and luxurious, yet dressed down. The intent behind the collection was to combine visual and tactile luxury—the highest-quality available mohair was sourced—with natural, casual details, from creating the rugs in playful shapes, to rendering an otherwise-formal fringe in a relaxed, 100%-handwoven jute. The fringe surrounding the rugs offer an inviting edge to create a point of entry to a space.

Combining visual and tactile luxury, Parlor combines casual details and playful shapes with subtle elegance and the highest-quality sourced materials to create such an entry point. The collection is certified by Goodweave, ensuring that the rugs are produced ethically and with no forced labor. Plaster, Brick, Oak, Pine, Ore, and Indigo colorways are inspired by ERA’s work at the meeting of architecture and decoration.

Elizabeth Roberts for Radnor - Parlor Collection

 wallpaper was inspired by historic landscape murals found in New York’s grand dining rooms before the invention of repeat-printing technology. Oftentimes the wall paintings were beautiful botanical scenes or exotic landscapes. ERA chose a 1910 postcard of Prospect Park, the Frederick Law Olmsted–designed centerpiece of Brooklyn, where Roberts both lives and practices as inspiration to showcase the beauty of their own backyard. The postcard’s undulating horizon and deep perspective was the starting point, while the hand-wrought ink drawing combines the loose gestural quality of a painted brushstroke with the precision of the micron line.

As a panorama that is at once familiar and fresh, Scenic captures the spirit of a city that marries its rich history with fresh energy and contemporary design. Elegant enough for formal spaces, Scenic would be equally at home in more industrial or casual rooms because of the way it balances history and contemporaneity.
